following years of weekends and holidays in temporary accommodation the client wanted to build a home for her retirement. With a building site in mind, capturing prevailing coastal breezes and the 360 degree view the design process began leading to a flexible contemporary barn like structure. The heritage valley and surrounding sheds informed the external architecture of the building giving way to a comfortable and modern interior with flexible private and public spaces built around a double height mezzanine. The home is cozy for one and can accommodate family when visiting with sleep out areas in the attic areas.
